Barcelona dropped points for the fourth consecutive game in La Liga, settling for a 1-1 draw at Getafe.
Heading into the match, Hansi Flick’s side had enjoyed a strong run in the Copa del Rey and Spanish Super Cup, winning four straight games. However, they struggled to carry that form into the league, mirroring the issues that saw them pick up just one point from their final three games of 2024.
Barcelona took an early lead when Jules Kounde scrambled the ball over the line after his initial shot was saved by Getafe’s goalkeeper, David Soria. However, Getafe quickly responded, with Mauro Arambarri capitalizing on a rebound after Inaki Pena had parried Coba da Costa’s shot.
Frenkie de Jong came close to securing the win for Barcelona with a powerful strike, but Soria made a crucial save, diving to deny the effort.
With the draw, Barcelona remain in third place in La Liga , now five points adrift of leaders Atletico Madrid, who suffered a surprise defeat to Leganes earlier in the day. Getafe, unbeaten in their last five home meetings with Barcelona, are one point above the relegation zone.
