Berry Ladies FC defender Comfort Yeboah says every game is a clean slate and no opponent can be underestimated ahead of the Super Cup Clash.
The Ghanaian best defender was on the scoresheet as Berries placed 4th Position in the 2022/2023 season, helping us with three points which moved us up to play Super Cup.
We recorded our biggest league win of the season against Ridge City in the reverse fixture at Madina Astroturf with Comfort crowned as the MVP of that match.
Ahead of the match against top 7 teams, Comfort was asked about our success in recent meetings with these oppositions, but the defender stressed we cannot be reliant on past results.
‘At this stage, the main focus is just on winning all our games,’ she stated.
‘We take every game extremely seriously if you have been following Berry Ladies FC on our socials; we don’t go into any game counting on the fact that we’re going to beat a team by a number of goals. Sometimes you get into a rhythm, and you find the success in terms of goals, but for us the focus is about getting the win.
From a psychological perspective, big scorelines on previous occasions should breed confidence amongst the squad. However, Comfort reiterated that every game is a fresh start and that no team in Women’s Premier League should be underestimated.
‘For us, having beaten some of the teams we will face before, we know we are capable of doing it again, but we don’t take them lightly by any means. Just because we’ve got those results before, we know every team can cause any team problems.
‘We just know how important it is to win every game. Maybe it does give us a bit of confidence against them, but we treat it like a clean slate every time we play them.’
‘We have it in us to score a number of goals, but we can’t take any team lightly. If they defend well and play their game, it could be really challenging for us. We’ve just got to treat it like a clean slate.’
There are several eyes on an intense title race but these teams are also coming to fight for the cup, something Comfort knows will make them a danger.
‘That’s definitely something else to take into account. I think for us, with the title race, we know if we win every game until the end of Super Cup then we win the title… The focus for us as we are training now is just on winning.’
