Preview: Berry Ladies FC vs Ridge City FC build Up Story

We clash with Ridge City Women Football Club on Saturday, 4th February 2023 for our first meeting of the season with Isaac Nii Armah’s side, aiming to win after a 4:1 defeat by Faith Ladies FC.

We share the same ground as our home venue for our matches making this clash named as “Madina Derby” by both Fans. Ridge City Women Football is a novice in the Ghana Women Premier league, and they just joined in the 2022/2023 season. On the other hand Berry Ladies Football Club has gained some grounds in the league and can boast of been second in the 2020/2021 season of the Ghana Women’s Premier League.

This campaign is however questioned on which team will come out victorious in this weekend game. With 8 games played so far, Berry Ladies Football Club have some consecutive wins and draw with few losses.

Ridge City Football Club has 2 Points and sit last at League Table while Berry Ladies Football Club has 10 Points and currently at the 6th Position on the League Table. With this league encounter, both clubs will be looking to potentially gain an upper hand heading into that crunch game, as well as league progress.

Berry Ladies Football Club Strikers like Victoria Salifu, Jafaru Rahama, Jacqueline Amponsah, Mabel Ameyow and Portia Sakyiwaa are always on the clap from supporters as their contribution in this season’s Ghana Women Premier league has been remarkable. This is to say that Berry Ladies Football Club in all angles are ready to win this match against Ridge City Women Football Club as their strikers are poised to put more balls into the net.

Gloria Kafui Kuzo’s Corner Report

Berry Ladies Football Club began the season in their usual imperious form and hope, but losing to Hasaacas Ladies FC in their first league game before suffering two defeats after a draw was devastating. That combined with a shock last-minute loss against Police Ladies FC in November and a draw against Army Ladies FC — saw Berry Ladies Football Club lose ground at the top of the table.

This month they beat Faith Ladies Football Club by a convincing 3–1 margin in the Ghana Women’s FA Cup and Thunder Queens FC in the Ghana Women’s League. However, these two successive wins have seemingly turned things back around for Coach Freeman’s side as they aim to embark on one of their trademark lengthy winning runs.

What Coach Freeman is saying

Coach Freeman Amponsah

Coach Freeman: “It’s more than Ridge City— it’s about proving ourselves — how is our level? Ridge City has a very good new coach and staff, and we must not downplay them because of their position on the League now.

“So, we have to prove ourselves, how far away or how close we are and the best way to notice is to perform at our best level.”
